My name is Lindsay Knapp Cooper and I have had the pleasure of teaching at NEHS for 13 years. I have my B.A. in Political Science and Social Studies Education from North Carolina State University and my Masters of Science in Education-Curriculum and Instruction from Arkansas State University. I recently received my second Masters in Economics at the University of Michigan, Detroit-Mercy. In addition to Northeast, I am also an adjunct professor at Nashville State Community College.
I am a football fan, so you can usually find me pulling for NC State on Saturdays and the Chargers and Lions on Sunday. I also enjoy Grey's Anatomy and Big Bang Theory. I like working out at Planet Fitness and playing with my four dogs, Izzo, Jose, Arthur, and Maisy. My husband and I keep busy working on our 42 acre farm. We also enjoy traveling to different areas of the world and try to volunteer our time with those in need.
In the past summers, I have spent time in Cusco, Peru working with children in need and studying consumerism. My husband, Al, and I also spend time every summer on the island nation of Curacao conducting free basketball camps for kids. These experiences have changed our lives for the better and we hope to share our experiences with our students, parents, and community. This summer I hiked part of the Maah Daah Hey Trail in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.
I enjoy anything that has to do with history or politics, especially the French Revolution. Marie Antoinette is my favorite history figure! Anyone who has that many pairs of shoes, I admire. I love teaching students how to be responsible adults and how to manage their money through Economic education.
